Highland: because everyone makes decisions

XOLAP for Multi-dimension Analysis

As part of the new version of Logi Info (v10) the XOLAP element has been added to allow users to conduct real time data analysis from source data.  This contrasts with traditional multi-dimensional models that require you to build a data warehouse or cube.

Logi XOLAP is comprised of three major components:

  • New UI elements to quickly visualize data as hierarchical grids, charts and filters
  • New data elements to create and analyze your dimensional data sets
  • Advanced Logi Studio wizards to quickly build and model dimensional analysis in reports

Portfolio approach gains ground

Due to continuing budget constraints, IT executives continue to wring value out of their traditional BI implementations.

Compared with the multi-million project, new projects will go to more affordable and flexible BI solutions that are business and user-friendly.  These new BI projects are often springing up in sales, marketing and HR. This type of BI project has necessarily short implementation timeframes and small IT teams, and is often funded on a BI project basis, against strict deliverables and requirements.

This is when the fleet-of-foot vendor comes into their own and will deliver results in a matter of days, not weeks or months.  Having delivered BI projects to a wide range of organisations in the UK & Ireland Highland are well placed to help you deliver your projects.

10 Point Checklist – for you next BI purchase

As your organisation narrows down its choice of business intelligence (BI) and reporting products, this document helps to highlight some of the questions that most BI companies don’t want you to ask.  For example:

  • Are you products database neutral?
  • What am I likely to incur in user fees?
  • Do you offer support?

These questions and others should give you a clearer sense of the capacity of a company’s product, the depth of their commitment to BI and reporting software and help you better gauge their capacity to deliver the product and service your need to be successful.

Customers rate BI vendors

Overall Customer Experience
In this category, Gartner analyzed three aspects of customer experience, including software quality, support and sales experience. According to our customers, LogiXML was rated above average on both dimensions.

Total Cost of Ownership

For mid-market organizations evaluating business intelligence (BI) solutions, it is not always easy to identify which will provide the greatest value. Since no single total cost of ownership (TCO) framework exists, businesses are left on their own to determine whether the criteria or calculation they have applied adequately reflects their requirements.

This report, Assessing the Total Cost of Ownership for BI, compares:

  • LogiXML
  • Jaspersoft
  • Microsoft
  • QlikView
  • SAP Business Objects

…using a recommended TCO framework which measures the following criteria:

  • High-level features and functionality
  • Services and support offered
  • Time to implement
  • Licensing model

Expanding the Capabilities of Your BI Solution

Are you getting the most from your BI solution? The best BI solutions give you two important benefits: an extremely high bottom-line as to what they can do out of the box, plus the possibility to expand their functionality. Extensibility is the key to the second point. Using LogiXML as an example, find out more about how to extend the functionality of your BI solution through:

  • General extensibility
  • Brand-specific extensibility
  • Tokens and plug-ins
  • More!

Being aware of these capabilities and knowing how to leverage them gives you a high ROI for your BI investment and enables your development team-members to unleash their talent without altering the BI solution’s core.

However, they must be implemented correctly, and must be business-driven rather than user- or technology-driven. Learn about how, by avoiding some common errors in its implementation, a Dashboard can truly help a company fulfill its potential.

This white paper will give you insights into highly practical matters relating to Dashboards. For instance, what should be the strategic goal of Dashboard implementation?
